Erithacus rubecula

The Robin is easily recognised by its bright orange-red breast, contrasting with a greyish-brown back and a neat, upright stance. A familiar and confiding garden visitor elsewhere, on Lihou these little birds can sometimes be seen hopping around low vegetation in search of insects. During the breeding season, you may hear the maleโ€™s clear, melodious song defending its territory, especially at dawn or dusk.

  • Habitat: Gardens, hedgerows, woodland edges, and scrubby areas. On Lihou, look for them around any sheltered nooks or near low shrubs.
