Biting Stonecrop

Sedum acre

A bright, golden-yellow stonecrop, Biting Stonecrop gets its name from the peppery β€œbite” of its leaves. It can spread rapidly over thin soils or cracks in rock, forming a sun-catching carpet.

  • Habitat: Rocky outcrops, walls, coastal dunes, thin turf.
  • When to See: Flowers mostly in early to mid-summer.
  • Length: Low-growing mats up to ~5 cm tall.
