Lihou House is primarily equipped as a education residential hostel. The rooms are mainly dormitory style accommodation and facilities are basic but sufficient. School and youth groups using the house can also hire a member of staff from the Trust to help provide an activity program for their group.

Over the last ten years The Trust has gained much experience with school groups and as a result can offer a tailored program of activities to suit most groups. The island is one of the largest open spaces in Guernsey and as such very important for wildlife. The programs and activities offered by The Trust reflect this and there is a large emphasis on environmental activities and also explaining conservation ideas to students.

Schools or youth groups wishing to visit Lihou House for a residential may find our documents useful.

Activities commonly undertaken during a residential include;

  • Rock pool rambles
  • Orienteering
  • History and wildlife walks and story telling
  • Archery
  • Team Games
  • Conservation projects – including nest counts, beach cleaning, rock pool surveys etc.
  • Coasteering
  • Sea Swimming

Guernsey schools wishing to book a residential stay in Lihou House must also submit the required Education permission forms well in advance of the planned trip. Below is a useful flowchart that describes what forms are needed.
