A sleek, swift falcon, the Hobby excels at catching insects and small birds in flight—often dragonflies or swallows. It has pointed wings and a dark, hooded head with a white “cheek”. They may pass through Lihou in late spring or early autumn.
- Habitat: Woodland edges, farmland, wetlands with plenty of dragonflies; may appear near coasts on migration.
- When to See: Primarily spring and summer migrant (April–September).
- Diet / Food: Large flying insects (dragonflies, damselflies) and small birds.
- Length: 29–35 cm
