Four-leaved Allseed

Polycarpon tetraphyllum
A diminutive, mat-forming annual with opposite leaves arranged in small groups of (usually) four. It produces tiny, starry white flowers that can be easy to overlook.
- Habitat: Dry, sandy soils, cracks in paths, open ground with little competition.
- When to See: Flowers appear mainly in summer, though the plant can persist into early autumn.
- Length: Prostrate stems typically up to ~10 cm in diameter.
