Spotted Medick

Medicago arabica
Spotted Medick is a low-growing annual legume whose trifoliate leaves often show distinct dark blotches (spots) on each leaflet. Its small yellow flowers form clustered heads which later develop into spiralled seed pods. On Lihou, it can appear in disturbed turf or open grassy areas.
- Habitat: Short grassland, field edges, paths, and other lightly disturbed spots.
- When to See: Flowers mainly spring to early summer; spotted leaves visible for much of the growing season.
- Length: Stems typically sprawl to ~30β―cm or so, rarely rising more than a few centimetres above ground.
