Water Pipit

Anthus spinoletta
A winter visitor in our region, Water Pipits tend to favour wet fields, marshy margins, or coastal lagoons. They have a pale, buffish underside with less streaking than Meadow Pipits.
- Habitat: Marshes, wet meadows, muddy fringes of lakes or coast.
- When to See: Mostly winter; migrates north to breed in summer.
- Diet / Food: Insects, worms, and other small invertebrates.
- Length: 15–17 cm
